So I'm in this improv "reality show" that takes place live every other Friday out at the Roving Imp Theater.
It's got everything you want out of a reality show - challenges, immunity, elimination, judges.
And it just so happens that for the past month, I've been #1! I won immunity and then I came out on top for the elimination round as well. A month of winning! Yay!

Improv...everywhere
What a weekend!
I competed in The Next Big Improv Show at the Roving Imp Theater in Bonner Springs, KS on Friday. It's an improvised reality show that takes place every other Friday. Each performance, the competitors will have to complete a challenge related to improv.
The first week, Christian won immunity! The challenge was to tell an entertaining story as yourself. Christian is a very entertaining story-teller, so I'm not surprised that he won.
The first elimination week (Friday), our challenge was to create a character. I made it into the top 3 and took away 2nd place! You can watch the video here: http://vimeo.com/15965558
Saturday was Holy Cow!'s first production of our new series: Improv Funhouse. We invited Girlprov and Men of Unfounded Arrogance to perform with us. It was a super-fun show and I think the whole "variety show" aspect of everything went very well. We started with some things we've never tried before: a powerpoint intro instead of a playbill, a video instead of an onstage host introduction, and sketches + improv instead of just improv. I think it worked very well. Plus, we learned a shit ton about producing a fair-sized show! I'm excited for the next one (...January or February).
It was also awesome to have an experienced eye look at our show from a critical standpoint. We invited Trish to come watch and tell us her opinion. This is something we've never done before and it went over very well. Her notes were spot-on and incredibly helpful. I'm excited to put them into practice!
All in all, an excellent weekend! If only the Chiefs could've won... :)

New site!
Christian gave the Holy Cow! website a makeover. It looks totally awesome!

Last semester.
I have 14 weeks until I'm certified in American Humanics. I'm in a fundraising class for the first 8 weeks and it is great so far!
Four hours of class after an 8 hour work day is...not so great. But it's worth it.
Holy Cow! is planning a show for October 16th, 2010. We're hoping to make it a quarterly showcase where we play with up and coming troupes. We let them share in the cost of the rent and the profit of the ticket sales, and we get more production experience (and some profit, hopefully).
Christian and I have been working hard on it, so I'm excited!
I'm also excited for fall. Summer is by far my least favorite season. I will take fall and winter any day over a scorching summer. Thank heavens for budgeted billing on electricity!
I've decided to sign up for another year of AmeriCorps because I just love being poor. I also love the food bank and I wasn't quite ready to leave yet. I still have a lot left to learn.
Running my second 5K on September 11th at Rockhurst. Then I'm in Thunderdome with some pretty awesome teammates.
Then the holiday season starts and I'll be going, going, going until January. With a new manager, and new AmeriCorps, it should be pretty damn interesting.
